Carne (Belmullet)

Hidden on one of the most westerly points in Ireland, right on the Atlantic Ocean, the links at Carne was the last course designed by the late Eddie Hackett, who commented of Carne "if ever the Lord intended land for a golf course, Carne has it".
The natural shape of the terrain, with its large dunes, was kept intact by Hackett, resulting in a demanding yet truly 'natural' course. Carton House (O'Meara & Montgomerie)

Par 72/72. The first of the two courses to hit the Irish golfing scene was the Mark O'Meara designed parkland layout, which opened for play in 2002, while the second course, and certainly a tougher proposition, was designed by Colin Montgomerie and opened for play in 2003.
Such is the difference between the two courses, it's hard to imagine that they occupy the same stretch of land but whichever course you play, it will be a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Ceann Sibeal (Dingle)

Ceann Sibeal, or Dingle Golf Club as it's also known, is the most westerly golf course in Ireland and for that matter, Europe. If Christy O' Connor Jr. was misguided in commenting "This course has everything that St. Andrews has to offer and more", then it wasn't by much.
The most westerly golf course in Europe (continue West for the U.S.A), this course affords a spectacular view of the Dingle Peninsula.

Limerick County is situated in the heart of the Shannon Region just 27km from Shannon Airport.
The course, designed by Des Smyth and Associates, meanders over undulating, sand-based terrain and provides firm footing for the golfer throughout the year. Des has made excellent use of the landscape and this provides for some spectacular second shots, particularly on the front nine holes.

Limerick Golf Club

The course starts off benignly enough with a couple of shortish opening holes. Any sense of security that may have set in from playing these is quickly dispelled as the third hole is negotiated.
This is a monstrous hole and demands two big shots to a well protected green.
After this, the golfer is well and truly into the round at Limerick. The course is a mix of demanding holes interspersed with some good birdie chances, notably the short eighth and the thirteenth.
The long sixth is an outstanding hole, with a stream meandering its way through it, coming into play for all shots to a severely sloping green.

Mount Wolseley

Mature parkland opened in 1995, with picturesque lakes filled with wildlife and fish. Water comes into play on eleven of the 18 holes. The Bent grass greens generous in size but are strategically framed by bunkers.
Fairways have good landing areas, however approach play must be accurate. Our signature holes are the par three 11th which is 207yds from the championship tees, this shot requires you to hit an accurate long iron or wood across water to a two tier green.
The 18th is a fantastic finishing hole, the fairway is lined with mature oak trees, then a second shot up hill across a water hazard to a green which is overlooked by the gallery of the hotel.

Mullingar

The course plays annual host to the highly regarded Mullingar Scratch Cup and over the years, the cream of amateur talent throughout Ireland and Britain has each discovered the menace that lurks beyond the gentle opening hole.
It is said that every great course produces great champions and if this is the case, then Mullingar is right up there with the very best.
The course runs to 6458 yards with a classic par 72 balance of 10 par4's, 4 par 5's and 4 par3's evenly distributed over both out and inward 9's. It's routing is player friendly, returning to the club house at 4, 7, and 10 giving opportunities to restock as required.
All four par 3 's are feature holes, but the 182 yard second in particular, with its elevated tee and green is considered one of the toughest one shotters in Irish golf.

Old Head Kinsale

It is quite simply one of the most remarkable developments ever conceived in the history of golf, an Atlantic promontory that will never be rivaled in terms of drama and beauty.
The course rises hundreds of feet above dramatic cliffs, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on all sides and commanding the most spectacular views from almost every part.

Powerscourt East Course

Opened in 1996 the East course quickly gained a reputation as one of the finest golf courses in Ireland. Just 2 years after opening, it hosted the Smurfit Irish PGA championship and in 2001 was the venue for the AIB European senior tour.
Features of the course include its contoured undulating greens, the different moods it possesses on different days and how bravery is rewarded for those who take risks.
No more apparent is this than on the par 4 fourth, where an accurate tee shot is imperative, or the par 4 seventh where the green is split into no less than four separate levels.

Rathsallagh

The 252-acre lush parkland layout follows the lie of the natural rolling terrain while many fine trees were preserved and are integral to the course today.
The result is a classic parkland stretch, which rises and falls among the shadows of giant oak, beech and lime trees. Water, which first comes into play at the short fourth hole, plays an important role at Rathsallagh, while the multilevel putting surfaces are regarded as some of the finest greens in the country.

Ring of Kerry

Overlooking beautiful Kenmare Bay, the golf course nestles between the towering MacGillycuddy Reeks and the Caha Mountains. Majesty alone of course does not make a great golf course.

Two of ‘The Ring’s’ signature holes lie on the back 9. Hole 13, ‘An Neidin’, is a 200 + yd Par 3 from an elevated tee which provides fabulous views of Kenmare Bay.
The green slopes heavily from left to right and is protected by water. Par is a good score for this hole. Hole 14 ‘Tahilla’ is ‘The Ring’s’ number 1 index hole.
A long par 4, it requires length and accuracy off the tee. The fairway narrows all the way to the green and is surrounded by trees with a huge bunker in front

Roe Park

Roe Park has a charming setting within the long encircling arm of the Sperrin Mountains, the spectacular Eagle Rock to the north and the Inishowen peninsula in the distance.
In an area that is infamous for its links courses this provides a challenge of a different kind and is known as one of the finest inland courses in the north of Ireland.

Rosslare

Rosslare Golf Links is the hidden gem of Irish Links Golf Courses. Situated in the sunniest part of the country, on the extreme south-east coast, it stands on a narrow peninsula with the Irish sea on one side and the huge expanse of Wexford harbour on the other.
The dog-leg par 4 first begins a round that has many golfing highlights, the par 5 seventh, the famous “Barber’s Pole” index 1 par 4 eleventh, the short par 4 thirteenth and the devilish par 4 sixteenth eventually leading to the long narrow eighteenth are just some of the highlights.

Royal Dublin

The Royal Dublin Golf Club is one of Ireland's oldest and most prestigous golf clubs. Founded in 1885, Royal Dublin is a classic golf links located just north of Dublin city centre on the famous Bull Island nature reserve.
The course plays in the tradtional links manner of nine holes out and nine holes back. The outward half plays towards the northeast and has the advantage of being downwind in the prevailing southwesterly wind for most of its holes.

Philip Walton here, visibly had the amateur golfer in mind. On St Helens Bay Golf Course there is water on six holes which is more psychologically scaring than terribly dangerous, additionally the fairway bunkers are on the lenient side and the greens which are moderately sized are well defended but leave a way open for rolled approach shots.
The layout gives variety to each hole and makes the most of the prevailing southwesterly wind, while the water features and some 5,000 trees are employed to strategic effect.
