The hotel is located a mere 112 yards from the Old Course, or as our logo implies 'Only a 9-iron from the Old Course' (depending on the wind!!).
The hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard, with comfortable beds and firm mattresses, direct dial telephones,
colour televisions and all those 'little things' such as wash cloths that will add to your convenience while staying at the hotel.
All rooms are ensuite and include power showers. Additionally a full breakfast is included in the rates and can be prepared early in the morning to meet your golfing requirements.
A significant part of the Dunvegan's personality can be experienced in the friendly Golfers Corner Lounge Bar, which generates a great golfing atmosphere. The bar is tastefully decorated and includes over 100 prints of various historically significant and interesting scenes including all the Open winners at St. Andrews dating back to Tom Kidd in 1873, as well as many of our famous (and not so famous) customers that have visisted us.
The bar offers a fine selection of beers, ales, spirits and over 50 malt whiskys. In addition, good, fresh food is served here which includes a variety of sandwiches, burgers, salads and traditional dishes such as the bar's ever popular Fish 'n' Chips and Steak & Guiness Pie. Also featured is a large screen T.V. where sports (especially live golf) are regulary shown.
The Claret Jug Restaurant is a cosy, informal dining room that specialises in thick, juicy char-grilled steaks, while offering a variety of other dishes to include chicken, fish, veal, etc.
We use only the very best fresh, local produce. It is a combination of excellent cuisine, prepared by our experienced Chefs and friendly uncompromising service that is rapidly developing the Claret Jug into a preferred place to dine in St. Andrews.
The Dunvegan can comfortabily sleep 16 golfers, but you don't have to stay here to enjoy the great golfing atmosphere that is automatic when visiting the premises. As one major golf publication writes; "The Dunvegan is truly a golf lover's delight, and when you visit the famous golfer's corner lounge bar, suddenly you are eating and drinking with the ghosts of former open champions. What could be better!" |
