Troia’s championship golf course is situated on the Troia peninsula near Setubal, to the South of Lisbon. It may be rather remote, but the golf course, created by the legendary architect Robert Trent Jones Junior, is worth the travelling time.
In 2005, Golf Magazine ranked Troia as the 25th best course in Europe, which is high praise indeed. Trent Jones’ superb layout is characterised by small greens and narrow fairways, guarded by the sandy dunes that make the peninsula so special. Troia hosted the Portuguese Open in 1983, and more recently was the venue for the European Amateur Championships, underlining how good the championship course is.
Trent Jones recently stated that he would include the third hole if he could create an eclectic course from all his projects, so why not visit Troia to experience it yourself?
