Son Antem West is a championship course which opened to much acclaim in 2001. It is 6325 meters in length from the white tees and is set in truly spectacular surroundings with the “Randa” mountain as a backdrop. Narrow fairways surrounded by woods and undulating greens are the order of the day on this challenging layout. Laid into typical Mallorcan countryside, the course itself is free from residential development. Wildlife such as hawks, grouse and rabbits is generally all you will see. It is tougher than the East course due to its narrow fairways and raised greens, and the three lakes which come into play on five holes.
The most interesting hole is the 15th, a long par-4, played off a raised tee surrounded by water with a dogleg to the left. This calls for an accurate second shot over an undulating approach onto a raised green surrounded by pot bunkers. Another challenge is the 14th hole, which has a green laying directly on the edge of a large lake |
