Falsterbo is one the few genuine links courses to be found outside the UK and Ireland, and is ranked number 3 in Sweden's golfing hierarchy.Golf has been played on the current since Robert Turnbull's original nine holes were established in 1910, but the course as it is now was inaugurated in 1930, and built according to plans laid out by a local doctor, Gunnar Bauer.
The Falsterbo peninsula is a spectacular setting for a golf course; the ground is a national nature reservation, and is bordered on three sides by the sea. With minor alterations to the construction of the greens, the course at Falsterbo remains as good as ever. A rugged, uncomplicated links track, it is no surprise that Falsterbo is one of the main motivations for golfers visiting Sweden from the UK and Ireland. |
